The christian deficit

I don't remember exactly where I heard it from, but a couple of weeks ago I heard a quote which went a little bit like this;

"One of the biggest reasons why people don't go to church, or don't like the idea of becoming a christian, is because they come across christians who profess their faith with their mouth, but their actions don't match these words".

Now obviously, no one is perfect, and even christians are going to get it wrong sometimes, and even do the wrong thing when others are watching. However, I also believe that christians have a responsibility to do all they can, through reading the Bible, praying, and going to church, to ensure that their actions DO match their words of faith.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

    unfortunately my old church quite literaly split in half because the two sides were unable to forgive eachother ... i think it even went to court.

    Some people claim they're "christian" but sometimes they dont exactly act like it. Instead they act the opposite of what they're meant to me. If you think about it if a christian was doing soemthing extremely wrong and someone saw it who wanted to be a christian in the end they will think that christianity is nto real. Thats what I think.

    if you dont at least try to fulfil the values you supposedly hold as a christian then people will disbeleive your faith

    however if you make an effort to uphold your spoken values then they might see that christianity is a good thing
