Wow - the response to the last post was GREAT!
If you keep that up you'll find that we'll get way more out of BIB.
I wanted to invite you to have a stroll through my church. I go to a little church in Kenmore called Kenmore Presbyterian Church. I've been a Presbyterian all my life, and I can tell you why if you ask me.
My church started four years ago. We are actually a church plant, which means that the people who started my church were 'sent' from two other churches to join together and start a church in Kenmore. We decided that we didn't want to pay money for a building, and so we meet in a school hall. We decided that we would rather spend our money on workers. We currently have two ministers, a children's minister and a women's minister. That is four ministers!!! We only have about a hundred people.
Our music is fairly basic, and we have a break in the middle of church for a cup of coffee. The children have Sunday School and we meet during the week in Bible Studies. Our main focus is on the Bible - we want to be taught from the Bible and that's what our ministers do very well. But don't take my word for it -
Go onto the internet, and google 'Kenmore Presbyterian Church'. Then have a stroll through our website and see if you can get a feel for my church.
Once you've done that, I thought it might be interesting for you to have a look at a completely different church.
Go onto the internet and google' St Johns Cathedral, Brisbane'. Then have a stroll through that website and see if you can get a feel.
Then, I want you to list some of the notable differences in the 'comments' section. See if you can find at least 10 significant differences between the churches!! (Maybe it's the terminology, the type of service etc etc.) You could also list some of the similarities.
Off ya go then.
Mansfield.
1) St John's Cathedral doesnt have activities for young kids. They do have young adult however.
ReplyDelete2) KPC:
"...Didnt want to put money towards a building but full time ministers instead..."
SJCC:

ReplyDeleteone difference that i have noticed is the amount of services in one day, which is three at the st johns cathedral, brisbane, and two at the kenmore presbyterian church, and the amount of people that attend, which in the st johns cathedral, brisbane, is 350 to 200 people.
ReplyDeletejust a number difference but still a difference.
