The Bible tells us that we are saved by Grace.
This means that Christians are saved into eternity by doing NOTHING. It is not what we can do that saves us, it's what Jesus has done.
'For it is by grace we have been saved, not by works, so that no one can boast.'
Ok. So if that's the case, why then should we do things like joining in fair trade? I mean, why should I sacrifice using a product that I like to use to help some poor people who I'll never meet on the other side of the world? Why should I sacrifice my comfort, for their wellbeing?
Why should I do anything good or right?
I mean I'm a Christian, I'm going to heaven because I believe and accept that Jesus died once and for all for my sins.
But why should I waste my time doing 'good stuff'.
Seriously.

Because it is through acts that others are saved

Because we should follow Jesus's example while he was here on earth - he did things in the best interest of other people. If we do this it won't help us get to heaven or make God love us more or anything, but it will make God happy - he will be pleased with us.

there is a saying its "do good for others, and good will come back to you"
ReplyDeletewazza
well,
ReplyDeletegood works dont get you to heaven. We have to repent to be saved, but though our actions and the things we do for others is a way of saving them and showing them that it is easier to have god in your life. God was a man who helped and cared for everyone in order to be more like him we should do the same, we should treat everyone equal and allow everyone to be able to have the life god planned for them.

thats the thing if were Christian than we should act that way by giving up stuf we love so other people gain dosent it say in the bible some where that some rich guy came up to jesus and asked how he could get to heaven and jesus said give up all u belong or some thing like that

Jesus loves everyone, no matter our background. Sometimes, the only way to show people his love is to show them we care, and that there is hope through him :)

its all in the thought, the thought of doing a good deed to someone that is in so much more need than you. just because we are saved does not mean we can be cruel to others... we are so lucky to have the benefits we have and sometimes it takes thought about others to realise what we have. we dont need to take action in helping people, but we dont deserve to be forgiven either, no one deserves to go to heaven, we are all sinners, but he lets us in even though we disobey him all the time, he gives us his grace. he helps us and gives us everything we have, so we should help the less fortunate because they are just as deserving as we are.

ReplyDeleteis it really a good reason to do good things to recieve good things in return?
Blake
chris, we dont always have to give up things we love in order to shoow other people god's love
ReplyDeleteJulianne
Unlike other people, we're lucky to have what we have so we might aswell help those that need it mroe then we do. If you think about it mostly everyone has everything they ever wanted so if we can contribute we can help those in need.

by grace we were saved so shouldn't we show others kindness and grace. You can't just say your christian, you have to act like it as well even if that does mean giveing up your money and time.
ReplyDeleteJoseph
Those people are relying on us to help them ... it's our responsibility to do so.
ReplyDeleteKate
doing good stuff will not only get you into heaven but you'll feel good about yourself after you've done it. its personal achievement :)
ReplyDeleteLela :P
well,
ReplyDeletei says in Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
we help and open the door for god to go into other people heart when we lend them a caring hand
Julianne
You can tell people your a christain, but you have to also act like one. If you do all this bad stuff, other people think that that's what christains are really like. They get a totally wrong impression and that's not good.
